We have a proud 115 year plus history of protecting people when things go wrong
From 1929 till the end of World War II, Paul Driessen (Leo's father) founded and ran a small Nationale-Nederlanden insurance subsidiary in Batavia. When the war was over he moved back to Holland and continued working in insurance for Nationale-Nederlanden. Before long, Paul was approached to set up the first subsidiary in Australia.
Angela, Leo and Bernie actively run the business today with their team of insurance experts.
In 1954 he immigrated to Australia with his growing family to start a new life and set up the business. In the early days most of his clients were other Dutch immigrants who enjoyed the familiarity of working with a fellow countrymen who could relate to them because he was facing the same challenges settling into a new country.
After a successful six years Paul was asked to return to Holland to take on another role with the company, but he'd fallen in love with Australia and the lifestyle it was providing his family. He politely declined and took the bold move to start his own insurance agency. He had built great relationships with his clients and wanted to keep looking after them. Saying no also meant his children could grow up in Australia.
Leo, Paul’s son, commenced his career working for an insurance company for 1 year then worked for an international Insurance Broker for 3 years before taking over the reigns of his father’s business in 1968.
Leo, successfully built up his business through hard work, personal connections and a commitment to providing quality customer service for his clients, something that still holds true today.
In keeping with tradition, Driessen Insurance Brokers is still a family affair with wife Bernadette as financial controller and daughter Angela Driessen-Clancy as a Director.
Today, we’re a thriving local insurance brokerage business in North Ryde.
We have a dedicated, experienced team who have been with us for many years. Our clients are greeted by a familiar friendly face when they walk through the door and they know they are important to our business. Clients are what make our business a success.
Knowing we’re there when things go wrong, doing everything in our power to make sure our clients finances don’t suffer, and getting things back on track are all signals we’re doing a good job that’s in the best interest of our clients.
We protect our clients like we do our own family.
I worried about seeing an insurance broker because I didn't want to let on I didn't understand all the insurance terms. My broker, Richard, explained things to me in language I understood and saved me from buying insurance I didn't need."
'Thank goodness I had someone like Alex on my side. He's considered a part of our management team now - providing advice on risks we as a business hadn't thought of - and making sure we're covered.'
Bill, North Ryde
'I could really count on Angela when my business suffered damage in one of those crazy Sydney storms. From the moment I told her about my claim she lept into action and did what it took to get repairs done (even though it was a weekend) and it meant I was ready - doors open on Monday and no loss of revenue for me!'
As a strata manager I'm often run off my feet managing many different properties. It's comforting to know that the team at Driessens always come through when one of my strata plans needs to claim - resolving it quickly and keeping me in the loop. One less thing I have to deal with - thank you!
When people's livelihood depend on you in can be stressful. I like working with Driessen Insurance Brokers because I know that they are just as focussed on keeping businesses open as I am.
