Take photo’s and attach them when you submit a claim.
Having a record of the damage helps us and insurers pay your claim faster.
Phone pictures are ok. Remember to use good lighting and show different angles if it makes sense to do so.
Do what you can to minimise loss – not surprisingly insurers really like this one!
e.g If your building has been damaged because of a storm try and do a temporary fix or cover to stop more water getting in before repairs are done.
Do keep copies of any invoices, receipts, reports.
If you need proof of any out of pocket expenses you'll have them.
Know your cover.
Refer to your policy to understand what you are and aren’t covered for.
Contact the police if needed.
Especially if damage has been caused by criminal acts.
